Why Mayo Clinic Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service Emergency Communications provides 24-hour dispatching for Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support and Critical Care transportation. The center handles about 400 service calls a day. They work primarily with medical professionals, emergency first responders, fire departments, law enforcement and others who arrange patient transports. The Emergency Medial Dispatchers facilitate transports by air or ground ambulance. In many communities served, Emergency Communications deploys the medical response for 911 calls and provides instructions to the caller on what to do until the ambulance arrives. Position description Coordinates emergent and non-emergent requests for Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service, which includes Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Mayo One Airplane, and Mayo One helicopter patient transportation services to and from the Mayo Clinic Medical Center as well as out of system transportation. Receives and coordinates communication, via radio or phone, from ambulance services transporting patients to Mayo Clinic Hospital. Coordinates advanced notification of patient arrival information to appropriate areas within Mayo Clinic Medical Center. Provides 911 caller pre-arrival instructions for Mayo Clinic Ambulance and for other counties within Minnesota and Wisconsin. Activates Acute Stroke Team, Cath/Stemi Team, ED Resuscitation Team, Family Activated Pediatric Response Team (PRRT) and Trauma Team for the Mayo Clinic Medical Center. Qualifications High school diploma/GED. One year of customer service, call center or dispatching experience. Additional qualifications EMT certification or medical experience is preferred. Working knowledge of radio communications. Basic computer knowledge. Excellent communication skills. License or certification Current AHA Health Care Provider CPR certifications required. Must be certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) at the time of hire or become certified within the first three months of employment. The Emergency Communication Center will assist applicants that are not currently certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch to obtain their certification after hire. Exemption status Non-exempt Compensation Detail $25.36 – $38.04 / hour Benefits eligible Yes Schedule Full Time Hours / Pay period 72 Schedule details Dependent upon openings at the time of offer. Shifts are 12 hours. Day, Night and rotation shifts typically available. Weekend schedule Typically every other weekend.
