Best Hospitals Offering Free Treatment Under PMJAY 2023
PMJAY offers free health insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh per family in private hospitals empanelled under the scheme. A beneficiary can produce their Ayushman Bharat card at the hospital to avail treatment.
Unlike other Government-Funded Health Insurance schemes, PMJAY is not anchored on a fixed financial coverage limit. However, the scheme suffers from a few drawbacks like inequitable service supply and utilization.
1. Medanta – The Medicity
The Ayushman Bharat PMJAY is the world’s largest health assurance scheme and provides free treatment for secondary and tertiary care at empanelled hospitals. This scheme is targeted at the bottom 40% of the country’s population (about 12 crore households), based on deprivation and occupational criteria from Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011.
The enlisted hospitals are encouraged to continuously improve their quality of service through bonuses that are given for National Accreditation Board for Healthcare Providers (NABH) accreditation, teaching institutions, and hospital location in underserved areas. Additionally, the scheme encourages NGOs and charitable organizations to become PMJAY empanelled hospitals, giving them the opportunity to expand their reach and serve more vulnerable patients.
Some of the most renowned hospitals in India, such as AIIMS and Medanta – The Medicity, have partnered with PMJAY to help reduce out-of-pocket expenditure for beneficiaries. With state-of-the-art facilities, advanced medical technologies, and highly skilled doctors, these hospitals are at the forefront of providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to PMJAY beneficiaries.
2. Apollo Hospitals
The Ayushman Bharat or PMJAY scheme was introduced to lighten the financial burden of economically disadvantaged families. It is a nationalized health insurance program for citizens of India and their families who meet the eligibility criteria.
Ayushman Bharat offers free cashless hospitalization benefits for treatment at empanelled hospitals in the country. It also provides for screenings like blood tests, CT scans and MRIs. It covers a number of medical treatments, such as cardiac surgeries, kidney transplantation, cancer treatment and other critical diseases.
As part of the scheme, patients can visit any of the empanelled hospitals across India for treatment by showing their PMJAY card. Some of these hospitals include AIIMS, New Delhi; Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi; and Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. These hospitals are known for their state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional healthcare services. They offer quality treatment and care to all patients, regardless of their economic status. They are also equipped with modern technology and highly skilled staff.
3. Fortis Hospitals
Known for its state-of-the-art medical facilities, Fortis Hospitals offer free treatment to eligible beneficiaries under the PMJAY scheme. The Indian healthcare sector consists of hospitals, pharmaceutical companies & standalone pharmacies, diagnostic services, medical equipment and supplies, and telemedicine companies among others.
The PMJAY scheme, also known as Ayushman Bharat, offers financial support for secondary and tertiary healthcare to around 10 crore families in India. Beneficiaries of this scheme can avail cashless and paperless treatment at PMJAY-empanelled hospitals. The scheme covers expenses for hospitalization up to Rs.
Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) is a JCI-accredited multi-specialty tertiary care healthcare facility in Kolkata. It is a centre of excellence in cardiac sciences, urology and nephrology, oncology, orthopaedics, digestive diseases and neurosciences. The hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services including preventive health checkups, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, endoscopic procedures, diagnostic and catheterisation laboratories, and 24×7 emergency service. The hospital also houses a helipad.
4. Max Healthcare
The Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is one of the world’s largest healthcare schemes that is sponsored by the government of India. It helps reduce the financial challenges of underprivileged families in the form of free, cashless hospitalisation.
It aims to cover around 10 crore poor families and individuals who are excluded from other insurance coverage due to lack of housing and meagre income. The beneficiaries can access the benefits through a PMJAY card which they can show to empanelled hospitals for paperless, cashless treatment.
The scheme covers medical expenses of up to Rs 5 lakh per family. However, it is important to note that the package rates under PMJAY may differ from private hospitals’ actual package specifications due to a range of factors such as their underlying profit incentive and their desire to provide quality care for the most patients they can. This may lead to some underprivileged patients being denied the treatment they need due to limited coverage under PMJAY.
